The First and Second Epistles of John are the only books in the Holy Bible that use the term “antichrist’ when referring to that evil entity, also known, among other various names, as the ‘Spirit of Error’.

It is rather obvious that the apostle John was not playing with words when he wrote those crucial letters, which through the grace of God have survived for more than 1900 years! It is also apparent that John had a sense of urgency to get his message across, and that there appears to be an underlying element of secrecy, the details of which John did not want to record on paper. In two of the letters, in the 2nd epistle and also in the 3rd, John states, in the closing paragraphs, that he is on his way to speak face to face to the recipients of those letters. In the final greetings of his 2nd letter John discloses that, “Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.” – (II John 1:12). This same sentiment is repeated near the end of the 3rd epistle, which incidentally is the shortest book in the Bible: “I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:” – (III John verses 13-14).

In his letters to the Christian community of that time John sketches a picture of the true character of those who follow and promote the Spirit of Error (the antichrist). John knew what he was talking about, because at one stage those same people were part of the Christian community. John’s letters where written soon after those people departed: “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.” (I John 2:19)

Incidentally, John’s letters were addressed to a wide audience, - to little children, young men, and also fathers (I John 2: 12-13). John must have had amazing foresight into the evil character of satan’s flock, for he instinctively knew that they had plans to corrupt and deceive God’s children. John’s insistent warnings to the Christians of that time NOT to love the world, and neither the things IN the world, can be equated with the urgent wailing of a fire-alarm. In his first letter John’s final words were, “Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.” (I John 5:21)

Today we have far more idols deceiving and corrupting our minds than they had back in those days. In fact, idols have become such an integral part of our lives that we do not even recognise them as idols anymore. It is near impossible to even compile a thorough list of all the idols we worship, in other words, the worldly stuff we have become addicted to, - for idols have taken on a multitude of diverse forms that cater for every taste and flavour imaginable.

The bottom line is that we have fallen hook-line-and-sinker for satan’s bait, because we have ignored God’s warnings. While the sounds of the wailing fire-alarms have changed its pitch and have become like a distant monotonous buzzing noise in our ears, the Titanic is sinking, and satan is laughing his head off!

Let’s briefly examine how John describes the antichrist and the people that promote its cause:
  • There are many antichrists. (I John 2:8)
  • They are liars. (I John 2:22)
  • They deny that Jesus is the Christ. (I John 2:22)
  • They deny God (the Father) and His Son. (I John 2:22)
  • They do not acknowledge that Jesus came in the flesh. (I John 4:3)
  • This spirit of the antichrist is already in this world. (I John 4:3)
  • The antichrist is a deceiver. (II John 1:7)
If it weren't for the antichrist, biblical studies would not have been necessary, - in fact we would not even have needed the words of wisdom in our bibles to guide and warn us! If it were not for the antichrist, we would not have to worry about spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. We would not have to worry about the end-times, or about saving souls, or about finding the Spirit of Truth, for if the Spirit of Error did not exist then there would be no need for the Spirit of Truth. Unfortunately this is not the case, and a wicked entity (God’s enemy) exists, whether we like it or not! That wicked entity currently rules the kingdoms of this earth. Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, described this wicked entity as a roaring lion, which roams around seeking whom it may devour. It is our adversary and we therefore need to be sober and vigilant at all times – (I Peter 5:8).

THE ANTICHRIST IS SATAN HIMSELF, and anyone who thinks that no such entity exists, and that all this wickedness, hardship, pain, suffering, and sorrow we have experienced over the ages and also right now, can simply be summed up as LIFE, -- are wrong! Those, (and there are many) who think that it is God who made a major blunder by allowing all this chaos in the first place, need to understand that the same evil entity currently ruling the worldly kingdoms on earth, and which is doing everything possible to sponsor, promote, and encourage the Spirit of Error, is also God’s enemy. It is also vital to understand that we humans have a flesh body and a spiritual soul, and when all this craziness comes to an end one day (and it will), then it is the soul that matters, - for the whole purpose of our existence is to protect our eternal souls, so that we can enjoy an eternal heaven with our heavenly Father when He ultimately defeats this evil entity we call satan.

A rather disturbing tendency among modern-day church-going Christians lately, is their reluctance to talk about satan or the antichrist. “We don’t mingle in the affairs of those matters,” or “it does not concern us,” are some of the excuses I’ve heard. This is a sure sign that Christians are being desensitized and conditioned by the Spirit of Error.

Another popular approach to this subject is the view that Freemasonry, the Zionists Jews, the United Nations and its New World Order agenda, and/or the Roman Catholic Church and its Jesuit Priests, are all working for the antichrist. Even people who do not even believe that Jesus Christ ever existed, or who doubt the very existence of God, love debating the subject from these viewpoints. Although there is some logic in these arguments, particularly the concept, which promotes a bureaucratic one-world government (New World Order), we tend to forget that this Spirit of Error, the antichrist, was ALREADY IN THIS WORLD more than 6000 years ago! In other words, this entity has had more than 6000 years to expand and develop, and to spread to all corners of the earth. It’s had more than 6000 years to change its colours (disguise) itself over time and to embed its slimy tentacles into every aspect of our lives, - including our churches!

It is thus no wonder that millions of people, including Christians, do not recognise it, and that many are unknowingly glorifying and promoting the Spirit of Error, - or to put this another way: - are not getting any closer to the Spirit of Truth by attending church, week after week – year in and year out!

Although I am no angel and have many weaknesses, it was only when I decided to put in an extra effort to examine the scriptures more intensely, and to also mediate in private and pray to God my Creator more often than usual, that I finally realized (after several years had elapsed) that the ‘gospel of Jesus’ and the ‘Spirit of Truth’ was one and the same concept. I would be lying if I said that this suddenly dawned on me overnight, - in fact it feels as if it has taken me a lifetime to acquire the little wisdom and the little faith I have. That faith as a grain of mustard seed can move mountains, is a notion that I still do not fully understand - (Matthew 17:20 and Luke 17:6).

Although it may seem that I am being somewhat harsh towards modern-day Christians and that I am judging others, - I am not! I am merely pointing out that satan is a deceitful, lying, con-artist. In fact, we are told in Matthew 24:24 that, if it were possible, (in other words, if it were not for the grace of God) the very elect will be deceived by this wicked entity!

In Christ’s time the ‘elect’ were his disciples (apostles). They had access to constant advice and guidance, directly from Jesus himself. Those elect individuals spread the knowledge of the gospel to numerous others, and it has survived from one generation to the next despite unremitting onslaughts from satan, which manifested itself, among other forms, in many futile wars and also the relentless soul-destroying persecution of millions of Christians worldwide.

The bottom line is, - if the very elect can be deceived where do we modern-day Christians stand? Should we simply accept the printed text in our bibles as the one-and-only means of equipping ourselves against the relentless onslaught of satan, or should we do more? In my opinion I think we should do exactly what the Apostle John did, and speak face to face with our fellow Christians, - hence the reason for posting this article.

I am by no means implying that the text in our Holy Bibles is incomplete or inaccurate. On the contrary, the complete text (King James Version) contains more than sufficient words of wisdom that can be used for purposes of teaching and admonishing. The problem is that the mere reading of the words will not make you any wiser, and nor will it bring you closer to God, - the words need to dwell within you in ALL WISDOM, and at the same time the peace of God must rule in your heart - (See Colossians 3: 15-17).

If we are going to read our bibles with a heart filled with hatred, anger, and vengeance, we will surely be lead by the Spirit of Error, there is no doubt about that! It is thus no wonder that there are so many varied interpretations of the text in the scriptures, and why there are so many conflicting descriptions about end-time biblical prophesies.

I believe most readers will agree with me when I say that one of the most ruthless and horrendous deeds anyone can perform is when innocent children are harmed, - in other words, when innocent children became the victims of misery and suffering through the irresponsible and selfish actions of adults!

Adults, no matter whether they are young or old, can acquire the Spirit of Truth through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, - that is, if someone teaches them, or reminds them, what the true gospel of Jesus is all about. Newborn babies on the other hand, already have the Spirit of Truth within their souls, for they were delivered, via the womb, directly from the Kingdom of God.

More than 1900 years ago when the Apostle John addressed his letters to the Christian folk of that time, he was speaking about that Spirit of Truth dwelling within a little child when he said: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them (the Spirit of Error): because greater is he (the Spirit of Truth) THAT IS IN YOU, than he (the Spirit of Error) that is in the world. (I John 4:4 - emphasis added).

Since that time satan has significantly intensified his onslaught on little children. He has, by extremely shrewd means, given the State (his kingdoms) more power and authority than parents, to teach and discipline their children. Corporal punishment of minors within domestic settings has already been officially outlawed in 26 countries, and there is currently a global drive to outlaw corporal punishment worldwide: – Source. This is but one example of satan’s many cunning strategies, and how he uses his wicked cronies here on earth to implement laws that, in the long term, will have a negative effect on the souls and minds of our kids, - the future generation!

In a country like South Africa for example, where ungodliness is fast becoming the norm, satan’s onslaught begins even before children are born!!!! More than 80,000 babies are killed every year through state-sanctioned legalized abortions. That is 80,000 of God’s children (potential disciples of Christ) that are LEGALLY EXTERMINATED – EVERY YEAR! For more info view the article entitled Abortion is Murder. The article, by Dr Peter Hammond, also illustrates how God has called some people to His service from the womb.

The point is, -- if the Spirit of Truth has deserted the souls of adults, then what chance do the souls of children have?

“Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God
as a little child, he shall not enter therein.”

(Mark 10:15 and Luke 18:17)

The Apostle Paul mentions some of these manifestations in a letter to the Galatians. These are: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like… (Galatians 5: 19-21). Paul also states that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. It’s as simple as that!

Although it is relatively easy task to describe what the Spirit of Error is, for it hovers around us all the time like a menacing shadow and dominates the news headlines most of the time, this is not the case when it comes to the Spirit of Truth, for the Spirit of Truth is in fact the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ. The apostle John is the only person that uses the term, “Spirit of Truth”. It features in four verses, namely: John 14:17, John 15:26, John 16:13, and I John 4:6. It is however also known by various other names in the bible, among others:
  • The Spirit of the Lord - (features in 456 verses - KJV)
  • The Spirit of God - (features in 111 verses – KJV)
  • The Holy Spirit, or the Holy Ghost - (features in 89 verses – KJV)
  • The Comforter(features in 7 verses – KJV)
(But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you – John 14: 26)

love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law - (Galatians 5: 22-23).

One cannot acquire the Spirit of Truth by exposing the works of the devil. It therefore has nothing to do with exposing government cover-ups, conspiracies, or crimes and other atrocities committed by them. Although many people find these subjects very interesting, and it’s sometimes exciting to talk about all these issues, you will not find the Spirit of Truth if your main purpose in life is to explore and expose these worldly matters, and definitely not if you are doing so at the cost of neglecting the preservation of your soul!

However, if you already have the Spirit of Truth within you (and I’m not saying I have), then you’ll see all these worldly works of the devil in a completely different light. In fact, you’ll have a deeper insight into these matters. You will also start reading between the lines while browsing your local newspaper, while reading a book, or while watching the latest movie release. You will immediately recognize the hidden agendas of satan behind much of the news, views, documentaries, films, and disgusting music the youth of today are so fond of. You’ll thus be better equipped to identify the shrewd means by which our children, the future generation, are being mislead (deceived) by the Spirit of Error. There is also a strong possibility that you may loose complete interest in all these worldly affairs. It all depends in what direction the Spirit of Truth leads you, and in what manner it goes about to teach, guide, and utilize your talents to positively influence those around you.

The most blissful aspect of having the Spirit of Truth within you, is that you will seldom experience that gnawing sensation of constant fear. Front-page news of a brutal murder or other tragic news may upset you for a short while, and you may even feel sad or shed a tear or two, but with the Spirit of Truth within you, you will not experience persistent fear, hatred, anger, sadness, or sorrow. Fear comes from the devil, and it is the main driving force behind much of the psychological disorders so evident in our modern societies. It is this irritating sensation of fear that has driven countless people to the brink of despair, and finally to suicide.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
(II Timothy 1: 7)

Another fascinating aspect of having the Spirit of Truth within you, is that your life becomes an incredible adventure. You may plan your life to take a specific route, but then when you least expect it, the Spirit of Truth will decide otherwise. Your life experience can thus be equated with driving a well-equipped luxurious 4x4 vehicle travelling through the roughest terrain. When you look back after reaching your destination, you’ll realize that the trip, with all its hardships and hazards, was definitely worthwhile!

The Holy Bible explains in vivid detail, from beginning to end, exactly what the Spirit of Truth is, and how to acquire it. The following list is merely a quick peek at how one Apostle of Christ, - John described it:
  • It shall teach you all things. (John 14:26)
  • It will bring all things to your remembrance. (John 14:26)
  • It comes from God, the Father. (John 15:26)
  • It will guide you into all truth. (John 16:13)
  • It will show you things to come. (John 16:13)
  • It will bear record in heaven. (I John 5:7)
(Take note that this last reference in I John 5:7 also talks about the united Holy Trinity namely: the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost, but this is a deeper topic that deserves a separate posting.)

This is by no means a simple and easy question to answer, especially if the reader of this posting is a non-Christian. To simply state that one has to repent and believe the gospel, is definitely not going to make any sense at all! I am not a preacher, nor am I a perfect Christian, so the question is, what qualifies me to even speak about these things? To be honest, I am totally baffled as to what is driving me to type these words. I have a multitude of other things to do, but yet something is compelling me to get this message posted. Although I don’t know why, I do know for sure that this message is being influenced by another force. I sense this force to be a constructive one, for if it were not I would definitely not be sitting here wasting my time while typing these words. I hope that makes sense!

Although the guidelines provided here can never be regarded as a complete and orderly set of strategies to be used by individuals in their quest to acquire the Spirit of Truth, I’ll be quite pleased if only one person benefits from the words I’ve posted here:

Begin by studying the Holy Scriptures (the King James Version) and do not stop doing this until you’ve breathed your last breath!

Understand and believe that the Creator of this magnificent universe we live in, is also the one-and-only same God that created you, and that this God thought it wise to come down to this earth in bodily form in the flesh, in the personage of Jesus Christ.

Understand and believe that Christ departed this world at the Mount of Olives near Jerusalem in the year AD 29, and that He WILL return someday in like manner. (Acts 1:9-12)

Understand and believe that before Christ returns, an impostor (antichrist) is going to deceive us into believing the he (it) is the true Christ. Be aware of the fact that the process of scheduling this mass deception is already in an advanced stage of progress, - but have no fear!

Do not judge your fellow Christians, and do not even attempt to create the impression that you are perfect in every respect, and that you consequently do not need a “Comforter” or the Spirit of Truth, for - “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (I John 1:8)

Have faith, and accept the fact that the blood of Jesus Christ has cleansed us from all sin. Do not believe the lies that Jesus Christ is simply a myth. There is ample proof that this is not the case. Seek and you will find all the evidence you need, - but beware of that roaring lion while you’re on that mission! (That roaring lion has bitten and scratched me a few times, and I have the scars to prove it!)

Walk in the light and not in darkness by building relationships and having fellowship with true bible-believing Christians. (This is where I too went wrong, and it almost ruined my life!)

Learn the truth about the gospel from wiser and older fellow Christians, and learn also from the text in your bible what instructions God wants you to follow. Don't play games with the Lord's commands, for your obedience is a sign that you, trust, respect, and love your Heavenly Father. Do not tempt the Lord thy God – Do not even think about it! – (Luke 4:12)

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
(III John 1:4)
